Beyond Her Years

Contributed by lilch4ever on Tuesday, 7th December 2004 @ 08:55:24 PM in AEST
Topic: StoryPoetry

When she thought she'd crumble
she held her ground.
When she thought she'd drown
in the blood of pain.
She held her tears.
The world surrounds you with all types of
non understanding pain.
Sometimes we have to stand our
ground and cry later.
As a child she grew up fast yet the
pain grew deeper.
Pain shed the shadows of her soul.
Words ricocheted from all
directions, hitting her all at once.
The bleeding of her soul, she
wishes to forget her pain and mend her soul.
Eyes who've seen too much.
A girl who learned too much.
Always had to be stronger
than what she was.
Always had to carry the burdens
of the world on her shoulders.
Situations came her way that
she wasn't equipped to handle.
Yet she had to learn before
she was even mature to learn.
Beyond her years, lies a girl who
held her all when everything seem to crumble.
Beyond her years, when she fell in love
for the 1st time.
Beyond her years, when she fell in love
the 2nd time around.
Oh how her heart broke into a million pieces.
Beyond her years, she held those pieces
in the palms of her hands and held
them so tight.
The river of her pain in her hands
shattered her soul.
Somehow she survived and held her ground.
Beyond her years, she was thrown into
life's cruel situations and she held her ground.
She came out on top, a stronger person.
Beyond her years...

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
