he's walking down a lonely street,
the only thing by his side is his shadow,
his face blends into the darkness,
but his blue eyes sparkle in the cold thin air,
he's breathing heavy,
tears almost frozen down his face,
sniveling and helpless,
lost and distressed,
he knows not were to go,
he knows not were he belongs,
he knows he can go home,
but his heart is too empty to put on a happy face,
he smells the tint of taste of a roast dinner in the air,
his stomach is empty,
dehydrated from his tears,
he peers in a cloed shop window,
a couple toast to a new year,
faithfull and happy,
helpless in the love of each others embracing arms,
he breathes deeper,
he tries to put the image out his head,
he walks with his eyes to the ground,
but all his tryings fail,
he imagines her face in as a rose,
openening to reveal me,
he becomes faster as he walks,
he knows nowhere,
the city is a ghost town,
the warmth from his body is ceasing to radiate as he becomes more engulfed with sadness,
he drags onwards,
then lets out a distressed cry,
he falls to his knees,
the pain inside his heart is to much,
he sits up to look at the stars,
frozen feet throbing,
eyes like icicles,
he peers up,
closes his eyes,
holds his hand to his beating heart
and asks in despair
'do i love her?'
he screams it up in a weak cry,
an old woman watches from her window,
then pulls her shoal across her chest,
draws the curtain,
sips her warm cocoa,
he falls to his hands
'who am i really?'
he drags his body up,
foot by foot,
limb by limb,
slowly and rigidly,
finaly he faces the pitch black roads again,
a layer of fog lathers his way,
he starts to leave,
empty,
cold,
alone,
though i am always with him,
im always watching,
dreaming of him,
he endures on,
searching the barron streets for his warm home...

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
