Divorce From Reality, so Me

Contributed by ina on Tuesday, 7th December 2004 @ 02:34:48 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Your uncombed eyebrows
make you look like God
awaken from a
nightmare where I lost
all notions of how
to live; your eyebrows
like clouds creaking over
a stained ocean go
great with my messy
eyelashes broken
like corn stalks, husband

My hair smells like an
airless dungeon and
you’re trapped under
my chin, your hands smell
metallic like fresh
blood leaking from glass
tubes; soap like sanity
is false, never lasts

Even though I have been
eating bread and Chinese
again, my figure stays
anorexic, your
body has grown from the
outside, your insides
empty, like caskets

I notice these things
husband, I wish you
took me seriously
at least this one time
that I am so mad

Last night or last year
I filled the ashtray
with milk, cigarette
midgets floated in
bacteria eroding
the process of rebirth
I took a picture
in case you didn’t
believe me, sad me

At night when u don’t
come home I draw your
outline on the wall
(white walls look like
smashed skull pieces)
and dance I dance! with
you; our knees bumping

What if I told you
I don’t think I am
Christ, I am only the
Queen of the Altered
States, and all the Indians
carry me through the
desert, I told you
I am crazy, but
you are too primitive

I see through the corn
fields, into the city
I see through our future
into the eye of hurt
I see through the wind
into collective
consciousness, I see
through you into an
eternal divorce
from reality, so me.

I ahve been looking forward to your return and missing your crazy beautiful poetry.

Thanks for writing - this one was good - especially here:

My hair smells like an
airless dungeon and

my chin, your hands smell
metallic like fresh
blood leaking from glass
tubes; soap like sanity
is false, never lasts
