My head rests on my pillow, another day gone,
Tears start to trickle down my face, one by one,
Crying for my family, because I’m not near,
Lying in the dark alone, I’m filled with fear,
So very tired, yet I find it so difficult to sleep,
Scared of life without them, it makes me weep,
Swirling emotions battle against the manly tide,
Sobbing openly, my feelings impossible to hide,
Closing my eyes I pray for a compassionate sign,
That one day soon again the family will be mine,
For each day that passes is another day that’s lost,
To lose all this time with them is too much of a cost,
A loving father, I want to show how much I care,
I’ll never get this time back, it just seems so unfair,
I challenge any parent to imagine how this feels,
To be rejected and refused despite all your appeals,
So I lie there crying tears from my broken heart,
Wishing I could change things, make a new start,
This is the true definition, of being so alone,
Kept from your family and kept away from home,
I dread the mornings because it starts all over again,
A day without my family, is a day full of pain,
Each day feels like this nightmare has only just begun,
And time is so precious, but another day has gone.
