Here I sit in my chair.
My thoughts are of you,
and how it’s not fair.
To have someone you love so much,
and not be able to feel her touch.
Sometimes I wonder if it’s a curse
to always be thinking of you first.
To be so lonely when you’re away,
And wondering if it hurts too much to stay.
I try to remember my life before you,
And it becomes such a difficult thing to do.
Was I happy or was I sad?
Was I missing something only you had?
What occupied my thoughts those days?
When you didn’t fill them in so many ways?
Imagining a future without your feel,
It’s as if nothing would be real.
Are our lives like a screenplay?
Where in the end all works out okay?
Or, are we just flirting with disaster,
And the more we love,
the scene approaches faster?
On this day and forever more,
It’s only my touch,
I want you to adore.
My sweet kisses on your face.
The thought of my poems,
that leave no trace.
My arms to hold you so close.
My voice you desire to hear the most.
My name for you to proudly own,
no matter the prior lives we’ve sown.
My body that lies next to you.
My encouragement to see you through.
My help to balance your day.
My lead to clear your way.
My hand that grasps your hand.
My picture on your stand.
The last thought in your head at night.
In the morning, first in your sight.
Alas, these are my thoughts each day.
And, I would have it no other way.
