defiance

Topic: selfstruggles

Sitting in my lumpy chair
I do not think, I do not care;
Life passing me by idly in turn,
I think I forgot what it is to yearn.
I have what most men dream
A dwelling, a car, a TV screen.
Yet something is missing, ever so unclear.
One would think that is my only fear.
But it’s not, oh no, many more are there.
My health, my fat, my wealth-much too much to bear.
What can I do, what can I say?
What is this thing that I feel everyday?
Is it love? Companionship? Is this what I seek?
Bah! Truly for those who are pitiful and weak.
I am strong, I am cruel, and I have been through the fire-
Let no woman rule me, make my life most dire.
Alone is freedom. In union there is no want, no need.
Marriage in other lands is punishment for a wicked deed.
While never having yet known the ardor of a woman to me-
I have seen the lives of friends who sanity was about to flee
When assaulted by their “girlfriends” for money, the car, their attention-
It’s funny how these attributes never scored even a mention
Upon the first courting, the first date, seriously now though.
Who really wants to deal with that when they dump you with a throw?
Make no mistake-I desire the female flesh-I am not opposite the gate-
But is it so bad, so unreal, so against society to not want a mate?
To live free, relying on one’s self, one’s wits.
Not needing love, a kiss, or sex for a quick fix.
The point of this clumping of words is at and to one end-
To emphasize my want of no companionship and unwillingness to bend-
For the self-glorifying female race-I will not bow down.
Frank TJ Mackey, that’s the name that will be written on my crown.
It’s over, it’s done. No more to brood.
So go away, and let me be in my mood.

Really good use of thoughts and feelings in order to create mood within your poem.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
