Early Morning Recovery
The light strips aching slumber from her body
(she’s a poetess)
And in that moment, the sunrise begins her dance
while this refined porcelain girl drowns herself
In a bed of salvation.
Blue eyes dripping with sleep travel around the
dimly lit room.
(she’s a writer)
Last night’s glass of water is tipped over, and the
sound of footsteps can be heard overhead.
Quietly, she begins humming silent hymns of madness
while cleansing herself of yesterday’s emotions.
(She’s a priestess bathing in holy water)
Enchanted melodies scream at her from the alarm
clock as it glows an eerie red.
(the digital numbers…furious at her attempts of
finding redemption in dreams)
Blanket-filled nightmares and down feather pillows
fall to the wooden floor.
The cold, yet again, takes it’s place within.
(she’s a perfectionist with a canvas as empty as
empty as her notebook)
