Teenage Years

Contributed by Clarity_Rising on Thursday, 2nd December 2004 @ 05:31:10 PM in AEST
Topic: FamilyPoems

You’re struggling onto the road to adulthood,
You carry to many bricks upon your back,
You feel alone on this two-lane street,
Yet all your friends follow in your tracks.

The highway turns, bends, and curves,
The roadway signs don’t show the way,
People shove you in the wrong direction,
It’s hard to tell the night from day.

I hear you cry and understand,
I know your anguish and your pain,
For I was fourteen once in a second life,
I too have felt the sun and rain.

Just keep on struggling my little brother,
The road you travel will soon end,
And if you slip upon your journey,
I will always have a hand to lend.
