Second Chance Glory…

As I was walking in the damp foggy haze
I seen you laying on the ground
All wet, dirty, loss of your glory blaze
I picked you up; off to work I was bound
I scrubbed you up, laid you out to dry
Keeping you straight, fine and pressed
After awhile, I properly folded you, not tie
When you got home with me, you were ready to be dressed
I found a small banner stick
Made sure your facing the right way
Hang up those American colors, even though you have some nicks
I know they say when you touch the ground, you’re thrown away
Not for this American could I let this be
You have so much to shine for in this land
Now hanging proudly in my little home of American free
Just letting the red, white, blue shine thru to my hand
