For the first time

Topic: drugabuse

The light from the lake shimmers so sweetly,
the suns rays bounce off like a rabbit.
Sitting on the grass, alone and hurt,
sits a young girl.
Staring into the water’s light she begins to ponder,
about her life, about what happened.
The pain hit her like a bullet to the chest,
making it hard to breathe.
Bruised and battered this child is,
dried blood lays upon her skin.
A tear falls out of her eyes so blue,
wondering why he did what he did.
Why he hit her, why he beat her,
are some of the questions that came into mind.
Pain arousing all over her body
at the thought of what he did,
wishing she could take it back.
Nothing could help her now,
not her friends, not her family, not god.
Glancing into the water she begins to stand,
as she stares into her death,
she wishes would come faster.
She grabs her elbow, as she feels the pain,
blood covering her hand,
she walks up to the water.
Slowly she walks in,
to cleanse herself of all of the pain,
red water surrounds her.
People begin to gather,
wondering what she’ll do next,
but what happened, they did not expect.
The young girl turned to the people,
and looked at herself,
seeing the blood surround her,
she came to realize why she was here;
I am here because I am strong,
I won’t give up the fight,
nobody can bring me down,
for I am my own person.
I control my own life,
Not you, nor your friends,
I do.
With those words she walked out of the water,
dripping all over the grass.
She began to walk towards her house,
to see her family,
not for the last time, but for the first.
