You stood by and watched as I cried
as he abused me and inside I died
You shed no tears, frozen by fears
needing a man to last through the years
You let him violate, while I had to tolerate
watching you stand there like an old reprobate
You were the mother, the giver of life
but you gave it all up to become a wife
You lost your child and I lost a mother
taken away and gave to another
You tossed me away for drugs and a man
while I spent my life thinking I can
You messed me up with
your promise and lies
You got damnation and I got the prize
learning the beater has a dead mans eyes
You were the winner and you really won
losing your child, your marriage over and done
You are alone now for the rest of your life
but you gave me up to become a wife

it's scary to think kids go through that every day, but this poem opens our eyes to the truth behind all the mess .. it tells us what's really going on .. but did you actually write it?
just curious |
