Break my mask of clay and dirt,
I'll only build it thicker.
Show them who you really are,
They'll only leave you quicker.
Promise's made to be broken,
Secrets exchanged to be told.
Give them your heart and they'll take it,
To mock, to be torn, and then sold.
So gaurd yourself with extra care,
Defend all you have and hold dear.
Layer your mask with make-up and smiles,
Lock up your valuble tears.

| This poem is wonderfully written. Your words come across with a powerful voice that flows very smoothly. I dont necessarily agree with the message the poem portrays, I believe that people who disguise themselves can never truly be happy. The message though does come across very clearly. Love is confusing, if let your guard down you will most likely be hurt a few times in your life. However, If you always hold back your feelings, you may one day pass up what could be the love of your life. |
