Imperial Garden Oriental Cuisine

Contributed by ShadowDaughter on Sunday, 28th November 2004 @ 11:39:35 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

it's the little things,
sweet and sour
as the sauce
you lick off your fingers
-while laughing-
in one more
cheap chinese restaurant

[you say,
everything will be okay nora]

and it's
silent borrowed scars, dear;
how you never let yourself
flinch away
-the reasons you want to-
and wonton soup you'll not touch,
because
dear god it burns it burns
the ghost of a touch
you still feel

[you say,
its ok really, im sorta happy now]

thin paper hidden
in shatter-sweets;
and the italic red ink
--whispering factory-made
promises of tomorrow--
agrees with you

(my fingers tremble
too much to open it
and
I don't believe in fortune cookies anymore.)

beautiful poem Nora I liked all the references
to Chinese food and the like. I'm sure this
was filled with hidden meaning that I am not
smart enough to get, but I enjoyed it
regardless. I liked the part with the wonton
soup the best.

Though I cant' say I know much about Chinese food, Wonton soup does NOT burn *looks clueless 'n stuff*

Wonton soup is tasty.

Your poem makes me want to scream it's not fair, too... I was practically sitting next to you as I read the poem, eyeing your food hungrily and wishing I could have a bite, then screaming right alongside you....

Bleh...

Oh hun...this made me feel so sad.
Especially in certain places, where I can see other messages written beneath the words...
Am I right?

And No...It's not fair.

I love the end of this, Hun. It's just right, and I can feel it.

Love ya hun.
*hugs*

You did well here - you capture melancholy vividly. Smart snappy ending, all in all a good write, and evocative read.

Thanks for writing.

I thought this was excellent...when I read the description I thought it was gonna be something like "Yay!! Ice cream, and chinese people, YAY!!!" but it was a vey deep, evocative read...Wonderful

I love your style, as it really intregues me. I admit, however, I have a hard time understanding all of it.... some I can figure out.

Impressive write

Oh man. I almost started thinking about Chinese food, too... but then those cryptic underlying words hit. Last stanza gets me.

Keep writing,
-Eve.
