The approaching darkness heralds
The coming night
The many gathered below impatiently await
The bursting light
The flowers bloom to sudden life
The dying, quicker
The stars break apart and fall
The lights, they flicker
Half a million people
Await with baited breath
Explode in thunderous applause
Only memories are left
Paper and debris float
Silence is a sound
The flotsam of a grateful throng
Litters up the ground
The only stars out now
Are nightly ones
Left behind in splendor
Remnants of the suns
The Thunder now is gone
It’s time is past
Another year ‘til it returns
It will have to last

This is pretty. I just love fireworks and don't see a lot of poems about them. Beautiful. Blessings. |
