Candlelit Twilight

Approaching the edge of the candlelit twilight
Bronzed to the point of a heavenly gold
Hazing the color, spreading as though butter
Across the bread of the world unknown
Moonlight blues twinkle and seep through
Fading away as the sun echoes the sky
Never quite gone and never still there
Waving each cratered finger; both hello and goodbye
Candlestick trees, lit with the breeze
Blown as tho’ angels themselves were the wind
Flying through time, romanticizing the sea
As the foam on the waves sit through the tides ends and begins
Candlelit twilight, burning light all night
Sitting forever dancing ‘round flames of the sun
Always, forever, ceasing this never
The candlelit twilight, and the only one
Closing curtains on the moon, lifting light to the sky
Out of the forests where long ‘ere they be
Candles they do all burn out one by one
Save the Son, the one lone light in all the galaxy.
