All Die Alone

Contributed by Katie2008 on Friday, 26th November 2004 @ 09:44:23 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

She was not scared of death.
She only feared her life
The people in it were so cold
So shallow
And she was alone.
She grew up different,
Something about her wasn't right,
Perhaps it was the way she never seemed
to feel.
Nothing in the world was real.
Friends are never true
and this she knew.
If you wanted someone to be there for you,
Someone to keep you sane,
Then you might as well forget it,
You're just day dreaming the days away.
This was the truth and she knew it.
She grew up cold and alone.
Rejected from a tainted society
All of whom didn't know.
And as the old woman was dying,
a song played in her head.
A song from her cold, dead childhood,
The other kids didn't know.
The last words mumbled from the old woman's lips
was a tune from long ago.
The words flashed by in her mind.
"Ring around the rosie, a pocket full of posies,
Ashes, ashes, we all die alone."
The old lady died with no one but herself.
People wore masks to protect themselves from the truth.
What was left of her body was on the kitchen floor.
And I suppose in the end, we all do die alone.
