Afterglow

Contributed by Dri on Tuesday, 23rd November 2004 @ 07:07:29 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

thriving in the afterglow
living off yesterday's glory
basking in the light
never let it fade
never let it show
they will ask
and what will you say
'I am human just like you'
they will not understand
cannot comprehend the power
lust makes you sweet
but this is so much more
no one else can see what he gave you
no one else would understand
so you are holding on
to the afterglow
never let it fade
never let it show

What a lovely first submission! I like the poem although I don't understand these lines...

and what will you say
'I am human just like you'

that's okay though because its your poem and as long as it makes sense to you then it's beautiful! Great Job looking forward to hearing more from you!

Loving it. I think this is one I'll want to reread, maybe a few times. I love the second line and how "they will not understand" . . . this whole poem is so beautiful in an almost familiar way; you've taken something we can relate to maybe a little too much and made it poetry.

Familiar, indeed . . .

Thank you for writing this.
