I awoke on that winter day
Massive smile across my face,
I hurtled down the stairs
At an extremely fast pace
I rushed around the living room
Grabbed the first present that I saw,
Parents sat proudly on their chairs
I picked and pulled until it tore
Within seconds the present lay there
By itself for all to see,
My parents looked at me and winked
I couldn’t help smiling back pleasantly
In the next few minutes the presents went
One by one the wrapping was left on the floor,
And I left the room instantly
Even quicker than when I entered before
But isn’t that what it’s all about
Well for children it would appear that way,
But over the years their morals change
And hopefully that’ll be soon, that day

I could go into a long dissertation about how we do Christmas because we have tried very hard to focus somewhere other than that tree on Christmas morning. I can't say my kids are perfect, but they are a lot more laid back about that part, so I guess with God's grace we have made some headway. Thanks for sharing this. Got me to thinking for sure.
