THE ALPHABET OF MY LIFE

Contributed by Rous on Monday, 22nd November 2004 @ 02:45:48 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

Around the corner and down the trail
Beyond the edge of belief
Canyons hide the deep parts of the soul.
Defending the walls that hold my dreams
Even now, a breech is mended.
Forever am I safe within from the world.
Great is the power that lies dormant,
Hiding creativity from the eyes of scorn,
Insistent in the belief that none will accept.
Justice is not a commodity spread to all.
Keeping in mind the memories of past trust.
Leaving the reasons for joy behind the wall.
Miserable as the life becomes, lost and alone,
Necessity begs caution, and so I hesitate.
Openness is rewarded with harshness and pain.
Pain that can take a lifetime to overcome.
Quailing before the harshness of criticism,
Reacting in the expected manner of defense.
Such a mean existence for the life I’ve led.
Touching the well stone of my soul,
Under the protection of my silence.
Vast stretches of desolation offset by
Wide gaps of love and understanding,
Xeroxing the days of my life.
Yet, I am a creature of hope, believing
Zealots will surrender their pursuit.
