A Subtle Departure

I used to care less about my life
Or whether I lived or died
I never once thought about my demise
Or whether my parents cried
I said no to sex and drugs
I would scream it out loud
Was I the one making the mistakes?
Should I have joined the crowd?
I never told it to you
I might be a different man
Maybe if you knew it all
You might see the other hand
Life passes
Like the seasons
Life is over
In an instant
Life stops
With our hearts
Life goes
Unanounced
Life leaves
Us behind
To struggle
With our minds
To heaven
To hell
To all
Farewell

This is interesting. It seems to be going in one direction ---confessional---and then it twists and confuses me a little. Kept me interested enough to give it a few reads, so there is something intriguing if not quite clear there.
