WHITEWATER

WHITEWATER

I climb into the raft with hesitation
As the guide states, “We’ve lost no one yet”
The flowing waters look so inviting
Trickling sounds asking, “Have we met”

With the push of an oar we are off
Leaving sanctity of solid ground
Swirling eddies of bluish green
Icy waters on a trek to the sea surround

Riding gentle calms before the storm
Every bend brings a quicker pace
Growing sounds of distant thunder
As my heart it begins to race

Suddenly whitewater is upon us
Each peak frosted with raging foam
Surrounded by captivating big rocks
Carving rapids into pieces as they roam

This boat contains twenty people
Tossed to and fro like a rag doll
The screams all drowned by the roar
As the river shows its power to all

This river ride ends too quickly
Sweat dripping down our oarsmen
I glance at all those around me
All eyes saying “Can we do that again?”

Our dreams can be like a river
Ever changing directions as it flows
We as dreamer's can be just a vessel
Following the river wherever it goes

So many times we let the water slip by
Don’t be one sitting on the shore satisfied
Life’s obstacles are a challenge
Take a chance, fight the rapids, dance the tides
