I have loved you for the longest time
It is different and all the same
After everything we have put each other through
We are both better at this game.
We have laughed and cried together
Over all the good and evil in our world.
We rise and we fall, and after it all,
You’re still my man and I’m still your girl.
All the years we have spent chasing
Our endless, ever changing dreams,
Have made us one stronger for the other,
Separately, wiser than we used to be.
Time must be on our side,
In spite of the infinite whirl-
We fuss and we fight, but then we make it right
And you’re still my man; I’m still your girl.
As we trudge on towards tomorrow,
May the light in our eyes never dim.
Encouraged by what we see behind us
There is no campaign together we cannot win.
We know nothing is for certain
But you and I, we are sure
In darkness or light, we will walk side by side,
You’ll be my man and I’ll be your girl.

This is so touching...I completely understand the feeling of just being able to grow and become a better person just by knowing that u have someone out there that loves u and vice versa. Very nice poem. |
