browned leaves; crisp, thin
we are inelegant, not for
curling petals that dry and fall away
but ziplock bags-
moisture collects on
clear plastic
through which is worldsight
supermarket storage promises
pure, pristine- preserved
we meant to be airtight
and now we are broken
as our thin stems, lifeless
-why did we not
try harder to stay white
and suffocate?
thwarted
we are brown
(and it is time to breathe again)

I, too, sometimes feel as if I am browning in a ziploc bag... |

This works so well on many levels. Makes me think of broken relationships. Those broken completely beyond repair and where contact simply isn't possible anymore.
That brown death in a throwaway bag when there was so much potential in the bud.
Oh, you've got me thinking.
That means this is a good one IMHO.

Well, as I didn't get to see the picture I guess you value someone's opinion very highly..lol. it's ok..I've seen the lily and the bag.. I like pix in poems..use them a lot..keeps me from having to think when I read Playboy..Jarrod should let his opinion be known there..now those pix can all go..rotfl..
now for your poem..it was very..(looking for a word) not sad..(scratching her head.. meloncholy? It reminds me of a beautiful friendship I had..I'd love for it to bloom and grow but there's no way.. and it was still new when it had to be trashed..a terrible thing.. such a waste. My fault too..I poisened it.. great write .. really something. |

"... on too much" *sigh* yeh
"we meant to be airtight" is an extraordinary line! And "-why did we not try harder to stay white and suffocate?" leaves me with such Plathy thoughts... Shucks, you know... if I keep going here, I'd mention EVERY line, remarking how incredible each is and how I adore the thought that inspired it and how I fall to thought upon reading. Maybe this then...
I have a piece of driftwood that I picked up a while back when I went to Roxbury Falls one evening. It was sitting on a rock in the middle of the falls... which seemed ridiculously appropriate. Worn by time, embedded wth sand, fagile - bits of it fall off when I pick it up. It's more precious to me than a store bought token... even if it doesn't, not really, fit the description of "beautiful". --- People... are sometimes like that lovely piece of wood, I think. Brown and full of holes... and so completely wonderful.
In love with this,
SNM |

Very nice -
You have wonderful insight and a great creative force to be able to express it so eloquently. I found myself saying How true How true.
This one , I thought, was great. |

I really enjoy your style, it appears, to me, quite symbolic. Your choice of words is so descriptive.
I really am impressed with your work

Nora,
I find your thought process like winding paths that lead us past all the beauty, and all the sorrow of the world.
You have such a wonderful talent and agile mind....sigh....this one makes me think of broken promises in my life...both given and taken...marvolous, wonderful job on this! |
