Dark damp doors
Showed me where you lay
Still and quiet
All alone and grey
White washed walls
Wept bitter tears
Alone in isolation
Entangled in guilty fears
I begged you to rise
But you continued to stare
Into empty nothingness
So I continued standing there
Your thin tired lips
Were icy cold
Your eyes shut tightly
Your body growing old
But then I noticed
On your pale stretched face
A lonely tear slowly dropped
In a slow unhurried pace.
From your eye
It tumbled down
Your sloping cheek
Onto your silky white gown
There it rested
It seemed for eternity
Working the divine
Striving for purity
Sudden light shone
Through thick heavy walls
The floors shook
Darkness fled empty halls
Then a white dove flew in
And nestled on your head
You started to move
When I thought you were dead
Your cheeks began to shine
Your mouth produced a smile
And your eyes opened
I stood there for a while
Your green eyes sparkled
As I looked on
Soaking up the silence
While your face radiantly shone.
You reached out
And drew me to your side
Whispered in my ear:
“Is it true that I died?”
You died, yes
But now you are here
In a place of the living
Alive with me my dear.
