The Harnessed Heart

Now is the metal eye encroaching
down pools of hidden depth
where the dying heart is moulded fast
in dangerous streams of liquid gas.
Now the harnessed heart heaves loudly
banging out a retch tune
drilling in a broken ear
flesh and blood turns to steel.
