The Mirror

Contributed by EvaRee on Thursday, 18th November 2004 @ 06:15:02 PM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

I looked in the mirror today
and to my surprise I saw
a young woman for once
standing strong and tall.
The look in her eyes
and the scars on her arms
the stained tears on her cheeks
from not being safe from harm.
The grace in her pressence
made me smile of joy
knowing that she would never again
let herself be used as a toy.
I looked deep into her eyes
and thats when I saw the pain
but she kept her head held high
never again to be put down in shame.
It was as if she spoke to me
and her message was so clear
telling me to keep on
never again live in fear.
She said not for someone
and not for just anything
but to be strong and wise
do it for everything.
She knew of my battles
of within and with others
she said just look at your angel
you are a loved mother.
Nothing can happen to your soul
unless you let someone take it away
if you know who you are
there's nothing anyone can say.
Stop letting people win
don't let them get inside
for you are who you are
because of your beautiful mind.
You can put up a fight
and you alone can beat
all the demons that haunt you
that have knocked you off your feet.
She left it at that
and left me to ponder
thinking of what she said
things that made me wonder.
I looked in the mirror once more
and I saw the real me
I was the person talking
I was making me see.
I dont need to live
in fear and disappointment everyday
and no one will control me again
there's just no possibe way.
I know who I am now
I finally found who I was looking for
I just chose to always
open up the wrong door.
Now I am back
back to my own peace
I can continue living
with myself at ease.
No longer will I cry
or let anyone break me down
now I will always find a way
to get up from the ground.
Nothing can stop me
from being who I am
I am strong and wise
now it's easier to understand.
My life again and forever
will continue to be mine
noone can take that away
because my scars are fading with time.
And within I am healing
a little more everday
I'm going to live and be happy
to myself thats all I have to say.....
