Why write what doesn't stop the pain?

Sorry, but I don't mean to sound clichéd,
But I like to sit in the dark alone,
That's where all my thoughts and theories are made,
It's where I wrote the poetry I own.
As I write this down, I sit in the dark,
It's how it's always been, always will be,
This is all I leave behind, my only mark,
All these poems and sonnets that you see.
They are my only skill, my only use,
But now I've begun to lose all these thoughts,
My very mind and poems are my noose,
I drown myself in these stupid inkblots.
They only numb the pain, it doesn't go,
They're only my way of making pain show...

The title of this poem really drew me in since
sometimes I have wondered the same thing. I
enjoyed this poem it was honest and well
written. I didn't realize this til now, but its a
lovely sonnet as well! Very good poem and
I'm sorry if I said anything hurtful in that thread.

You have a talent that nobody can steal away from you. Even though these are just thoughts written on paper, that may or may not have a meaning, they are still yours. Besides numbing the pain is better than feeling it full force, don't you think? Well I thought that it was very well written. Keep thinking your mind will soon clear. |

I understand this and have also wondered. I once thought I'd give up writing until I realized that even though the pain doesn't stop; writing, numbing the pain, does help. The pain doesn't go away, but at least it helps it a little.
Stunning write,
*hugs* Phil xxx |
