The Road Of Shattered Dreams

The Road Of Shattered Dreams

I walk down this empty street,
All is quiet, all is dark.
All my pain is forgiven, but all my dreams are shattered.
I hear a bird, but to my dismay, it wasn’t a lark.

The bird in which I had heard, was the raven,
The bringer of death.
Who’s dying? Is it me? Or is it a friend?
Never will I know. Until I can feel the ravens breath.

Too many times, I’ve walked this road,
The road of shattered dreams.
This place is where I belong, for that is all I have.
A bunch of shattered dreams within my head, nothing is what it seems.

No matter how hard I try, This place is where I always end.
Everything I do, and everything I say.
Has no effect on where I stay.
These scars in my mind are far too deep. They will never mend.

So here I am, walking alone on this dark road,
Feelings are all gone, they will always forebode.
The only thing that walks with me is my shadow.
The only thing that has been with me, no matter where I end.

I liked the emotions in this poem... very dark
imagery and a very haunting read. I enjoyed
it although such despair can be crippling so I
hope you don't write from experience.
