Margarita XLII

El Segundo's strong father speaks of oath
that he wants Diego to take this day.
This oath now taken freely pleased them both,
it gave direction sending youth war's way.
His own will go wherever he should say,
for he's the leader taken papa's place.
Now they resume the independence fray,
and battles be joined showing rapid pace.

"Soon they'll shoot me. I don't want to die, but it'll happen. Then
Diego, you'll be the man of the house."
" I know, papa. I'll take care of mama. We'll be all right."
"You won't be all right, Diego. That's what I want to tell you. The
gachupines will eventually get you. I want you to be with Morelos at Oaxaca.
He'll accept you as a guerrilla and take care of your mother. He owes me a favor."
" I didn't know you were so important, papa."
" I'm just a miner, Diego, but I've fought well and Morelos knows that. Who
was it that set fire to the granary gate?"
Diego drew back in admiration for his father. "Papa, you're El Pipila. Everybody
knows you. You're famous! Why didn't I know my papa was El Pipila?"
" I told no one. When we couldn't take Alhondiga de Granditas and people were
being shot by the royalist soldiers, I couldn't let a simple door stand in the
way, could I, hijo? I put a slab of stone on my shoulders for protection and lit the
door on fire. Such massive door, Diego. The fire was beautiful! Flames went up to
heaven driving the soldiers back."
"My father's El Pipila!"

Thank you for your kind words. Thank you for your good score. Maybe I can write something else you'll like. Hope so.
Regards,
Ramfire
