As you slept I was lying there awake,
Wishing I could sleep for my own sake.
Alas I could not, if only you knew I truly suffer insomnia,
May be I should have had some of your vodka.
You seemed to sleep pretty well after some of it,
All I managed was to lay sleepless and fidget.
It made a change to have my special guy to hug,
In our shared warmth I felt so snug.
I felt safe in my sleeplessness beside you,
I feel my love for you steadily becoming true.
You know I have problems with sleep, just not the seriousness,
If only the sleep I got was dreamless,
Then maybe I would wake with some energy.
May be then I could be more cheery.
Instead of looking like death on good days.
With that always vacant gaze.
How can you be attracted to me in this state?

hm...I have spent many a night lying awake beside her....hearing her breathe softly on my hand...watching her smile as she dreams...seeing the beautiful form...that is mine to hold....
No wonder u cant sleep... |
