Waiting For You...Still...

LoveRemembered
|
I remember, years ago,
how the hair would stand up at the nape of my neck,
A shiver, tickle its way up my spine...
And I'd know, without looking,
That you had entered the room.
I'd search for you, discretely, coyly,
Look for your shoulders,
listen for the warm, comforting cadence of your voice,
Hoping that despite the distance, And a crowded room,
I would catch your eyes...
That I would hold your attention, however briefly,
and be gifted with the quirky smile
That was so uniquely yours.
Even now my heart skips a beat
Remembering your breath,
Warm and sweet against my hair.
Your lips, gentle and reverent,
as they brought mine to life.
Stupefied that you had chosen me.
