Since You’ve Been Gone
~~~~
Last night around midnight
I turned off the light
For my eyes were full of red
Instead of white
Another day had ended
But my pain still lived on
It’s been this way for years
Since you’ve been gone
I tossed and turned
Hadn’t gotten a second of rest
Tried to think of something different
I tired my best
But memories of you
Dominated my mind
I relived every second
Of every good time
It’s as if you are here with me
Laying in bed
Sharing the thoughts
That race inside my head
When the sun comes up in the morning
I’ll still be here
Basking in the memories
And drenched in my tears
How very sad but beautifully versed. Very nice write. It is hard when we miss & are without the ones we love. But on a positive note at least they have given us memories that nobody can take away & they will always live on inside us.
Very dear poem,
Thanks for sharing.
