The Greatest Gift

Topic: InspirationalPoems

So I have won myself the greatest gift,
To be independent mind, body, and soul.
I have stumbled out of a cloak of conceit and control.
But this gift is only a temporary. It has
Served its purpose, and worn itself out, finding its place
On a dusty shelf as a new enthralling thing awaits.
WE love to say we are Free
All I need is myself and me and forever I can be
A contented soul, to all of them I say:
The journey in your inner space
Finding that magic in you,
Where the world can gently roll beneath your feet,
Where laughter is your workout,
When finally the strength inside encompasses you
And you stop playing someone else’s role,
It's just another volume in the great works of your life.
It is the pivotal piece, the critics will all rave and congratulate.
Never the less it is not finished
More tales are left to be told.
It was merely the sturdiest stepping-stone,
With a theme for all to see.
Now you will continue and find that a longing will once again bubble
Your independence something you want to intertwine, grow like a vine
Sharing roots with others.
Fear arises; your spiritual journey seems to be in peril.
Take comfort in all those who walked before you
Take our words like a blanket, a comforting embrace.
Your awakening was not in vain, only to show
That the love for yourself and all you encompass
Is the only way harmony will be found that is pure,
That can cherish and love they way you do yourself.
It takes a lover, to find a lover, to love a lover
To be loved by your lover that is as able to be as strong a lover
As your first true lover,
-You.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
