die alone

I died alone today
Thought I’d pass you there
Along the way
And as the sun crashed down
My heavy feet sank further
In the ground
Remember yesterday
I always thought you’d know
Just what to say
To keep me safe from this
There must’ve been some secret
That I missed
Where was your cross that day
That pinned you to the floor
And made you wait
Sorry to burden you
I never thought the lies you
Spilled were true
You came alone today
To drop your bloody flowers
Where I lay
Are you now midnight’s slave
Lying in the shadow
Of my grave
I may come back some day
Waking when your sun
Begins to fade
Take back calm you keep
And turn away as you
Lay down to sleep
