ahkeem, glance at the sky march clouds hanging like
honey on my saddest day ever
played you monday night, and will tonight, too
my day was as unbearable as a sweater in the florida afternoon
came home to find my bed empty; not surprised
it was cold and full of my disillusional lies
ahkeem, in my saddest hour you held me over in and of
itself, a cruel block of loneliness when forbidden love
is like a dirty bartender who flirts with you from the breasts on down
and offers you more wine to wind you down
sunday night i was so sad and alone
monday night i spent hours staring at my phone
carrying groceries to the door and beyond
and cooking with no passion, just going on
until the sound of your voice so full in your song
made the days' drama into diamonds as I sang along
ahkeem, you made me a culinary goddess last night
my heart and eyes were full and bedazzled in light
the hours applauded the tune & a single wine glass wept
with delight & appeal, as i approached a new inner depth
ahkeem, a man painted with a moral mantra
dark, cinnamon skin and personal poetic stanza
you use silence the way i use my body
much more than what is outlined as "necessary"
ahkeem, the master; ahkeem, a form as sexy as hell,
whatever you do, you do it well
ahkeem, you can sing the skin off of any woman
and steal the lightening from her toes
listen ahkeem, i just don't know
i say more than i mean to show
you are essential in many pieces
and warmth let out in small releases
seems to be the way it will always go
ahkeem, i love you and i wanted you to know
