Ugly Duckling

Contributed by pixie on Monday, 15th November 2004 @ 12:05:16 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

I have always felt like the ugly duckling,
Behind my back everyone’s chuckling,
They call me names behind my back,
Just exactly what qualities did I lack?

Is it because I am adopted is that weird to you?
Is it because I speak my mind & words true?
Maybe it’s because of all my tattoos & scars,
Or maybe because academically I didn’t go far.

I was always quite a loner when I was at school,
Because I dared to be different & break rules,
Everyone stuck in their special little groups,
There wasn’t any room for people with misspent youth.

So I stuck up my two middle fingers,
Hoping the memory of me would forever linger,
I hated everyone as I hate two faced,
With such pure rage my heart was laced.

I wonder if I will ever become a beautiful swan,
Wonder if my heart so true will forever carry on,
I have never quite fitted in with society,
I am just an ugly duckling & no-one loves me.

you ARE a beautiful swan! i can totally relate though, it was the same for me in school...but those "cliques" were never my cup of tea anyway...i liked being a loner...it meant i didnt have to follow anyone else...so be proud of who you are!

Pixie, you have the most beautiful heart and the most gentle soul. You shouldn't be so hard on yourself. This isn't true at all. *S* Cynthia
