Topic: Grief

Months pass me by,
Ripping pages off the calendar.
It's been a year,
Since that day they found her.
Raped, mutilated, mangled.
Then beaten and strangled.
I cried and punched walls,
I sat in the dark for hours on end
I didn't answer the apologetic calls;
I waited for the return of my friend.
I lay on my bed sobbing
I paced my darkened room
I thought of the robbery
I prayed for justice and doom.
She was innocent and pure
She was blessed and right.
She was beaten black and blue
She was raped all night.
She was kind as the morning sun
She was saved as the apostle Paul.
She was crying, heard by no one
She was screaming, no one heard at all.
They had their fun for a night
They had a notch upon their belts
They know nothing of her fight
They know nothing of how she felt.
They thought they got away with it
They thought they were free as the sky
They see nothing now, not the bullets
They see nothing from their sightless eyes.
She is now avenged
She is now free to sail
I now have my revenge
I am now in jail.
