Always the Same

Once fiery and bright with passion and drive
Only ashes are left behind by the now-smoldering flame
Now hugging the embers for warmth, just to stay alive
The cold of winter prevails --
It's always the same
Seasons change as the dead leaves fall helter-skelter
No fuel is spared by the fire, no warmth is left to reap
Now shivering, hiding under layers just for shelter
Let me escape this place, O God --
Just let me sleep
I will find a new dream, a new pill to take
A magical escape from a life estranged
Yet now in the morning that I finally wake
Winter still surrounds me --
Nothing has changed

But it doesn't have to be. Usin the analogy winter for love is perfect. Anything can get used up but that does not mean the use is gone or that the embers of the once fire are still not burning brightly just waiting for one wisp of breeze to bring it back to life. Real love never dies as winter never truly leaves. It just sits back waiting its turn in the seasons again.
Smiles
