Life Lost

Contributed by Tamara on Saturday, 13th November 2004 @ 11:52:00 PM in AEST
Topic: Grief

She looks at him from across the room
He brightens up her day
But then she looks into his eyes
As he looks at her the same way
They move towards one another
He gives her a subtle wink
Then he signals to the bartender
To bring this woman a drink
And so they sit and talk for hours
Getting to know each other
Silently realising
That they like each other
They order another drink
And for a while they stay
Time passed by and it was getting late
So they make a date for another day
She walks home thinking to herself
'Wow, he was great'
He drives home thinking
'I can't wait 'til our next date'
So they're both on their way home
As happy as can be
He's driving home
Not expecting tragedy
While walking home she was hit by a car
By a drunk who said "I'm ok to drive'
If he had of thought twice before he left
Maybe she would still be alive
He got out of the car
To check the woman in the light
A rush of disbelief flooded through him
As he realised it was the woman he met that night
'From this day on'- he swore
'I'll never drink and drive
If I had of listened to that earlier
Maybe she would still be alive'

~WoW~
I made me all emotional know where is my tissue when I need it these types of poems and stories really upset me that people could be that stupid to drink and drive or even drink that much knowing that they had a vechile with them and more than likely they had to drive it home and for those stupid people out there if you dare drink and drive then you dare to take someones life that means that your life should be taken to.
