God's Listening

Contributed by merry on Saturday, 13th November 2004 @ 03:38:55 PM in AEST
Topic: spiritual

Treat each other kindly
With grace and dignity
The message is not lost
I give him two dollars
Because he might be Jesus
Testing, testing…
Does anybody hear me?

Heavenly Father
Are we motherless children
At the mercy of man’s corruption?
Do you watch me
Through beggar’s eyes?
And judge me accordingly
I look back in shame

Kneeling at the alter
I cannot remember how to pray
The beggar will inherit the earth
I am glad of his good fortune
Incense captures my words
Sending them to Heaven’s gate
I wait for your reply?

Heavenly Father
When we have prayed for victory
Whose side are you on?
Who is right and who is wrong?
My enemy claims you as I do
Declaring you stand behind his cause
Every warrior seeks shelter in your arms

From microbe to mankind
We came to be here
No magic or clever tricks
Perfect energy manifested
You are everything and always
Do you speak from mountain tops?
And part the angry seas?

Heavenly Father
Concepts of the universe
Simply escape my mind
But when I hold a kitten or hear a baby cry
These miracles I understand
Your presence recognized
And my prayers come back to me
