It is the question I face tonight
Another night of lost sleep
But it is a series of sleepless nights I live with
Friends from my youth
Lost in a war call Vietnam
Why them and not me?
What purpose God do you have for me
That I may live and they shall die?
It has been 35 years and I am still waiting
I have had three great children and three great careers
And a wonderful wife
I don't understand your wisdom Lord
But I am thankful just the same
That you let me survive

I reallyliked this. My dad joined the Marines to go to Veitnam. He was hell bent on going. His brother joined the Air Force so he wouldn't have to go (so he thought). They sent my dad to Okinawa, next stop Nam, and next thing he knew he was being shipped back to the states. His brother was already over there. And you know the deal with that... And my dad is one crazy MFr! I am thankful he didn't go because I think he wouldn't have made it out... Fate as many twists. Things happen for a reason. Good write! |
