You Never Know what you have Until it's Gone

You never know what you have,
Until it’s gone

As friends, is how this relationship started.
Our lives went the same way, and never parted.
Games were played,
Friendship grew, look what it made.
Soon, together we were,
Everything before, became a blur.
We held hands as we walked,
Amongst our friends we talked.
Some say we had a special gift, that I won’t deny,
It was our moment of pure bliss, all the pain swept by.
Gifts were given, and received,
All our cravings were relieved.
Rambling was heard around the room,
I could feel it in my head, it was splitting in two.
It’s none of their business, so why do they care?
All of these words, are making it hard to bare.
I walk up to you, as from my eyes a tear,
It came out, oh so fast.
“I thought you cared! I hope you had a blast!”
I turned around, and walked away,
Leaving you alone, to your own dismay.
For week after week, we did not speak,
For your friendship, I did not seek.
“I didn’t cheat on you, but if that’s what you think, then good-bye to you, good-bye to you all.”
You turned around, and stomped away, leaving me in the hall.
I noticed those girls just wanted what I had,
Those words they spoke, made me so mad.
So here I sit, on this lonely green lawn,
And I figured out “You never know what you have, until it’s gone”

Man, that is good. Keep on writing... is it just me, or does writing about things that hurt you come so easily? To write about what hurts me, is such a well, satisfying way of letting all the emotions out....

Great stuff. Some of the best poetry comes from love lost, it's great to get it all out of your system. Good write.
