There’s a Lady in Black, and she’s fallen from Grace
She no longer has angel eyes, no longer a pure white face
Long hair lay in matted tangles upon her head
Her eyes gleaming black, her lips blood red
She held back the tears through stormy skies
Forever putting on this charade, this disguise
Burning eyes look up, gaze into your mind
Scared of what they’ll see, or what they’ll find
Slowly sinking into oblivion, she realises there is nothing there
What do they know, these people?
What do they care?
There’s a Lady in Black, wearing that soft velvet dress
The only pain she feels now is that of the razors caress
Red trails are drawn in pretty patterns on her skin
Filling the hollow void of her mind back in.
She feels the steely bite, feels the kiss
She’s been here before, she’s used to this;
Last time she didn’t even feel the pain
She’d reached too far- she touched the insane.
A passionate love for the knife, a passionate lust
Never even knowing why, you see
It’s the question that drives us.

What a wonderfully morbid poem, I really enjoyed it! I also liked the way you held the rhyme throughtout the poem.

i love this poem... it is beautiful and sad at the same time... the best kind of poetry is the dark that emerges and really grips you... |
