Misinformed On Love

Topic: sarcasticpoetry

When I met with Cupid
he sugar-coated "love"
He said it was deep, and true and beautiful
but he failed to include what it was really about
I signed onto "love" with a naive mind
I didn't read the fine print
and I didn't ask questions
once the contract was signed
It was a perfect con
the scam was set in motion
But it didn't take long
for this little pond of love
to turn into a raging ocean
Manipulation, lies and betrayal came
They followed promises, gifts and sweet words
Can I claim a breach of contract
on account of heart ache and pain?
or did I give up my heart's rights
when I singed on to this hurt?
Suddenly Cupid traded in his bow & arrow
and a sneering, horned monster appeared
Halfway through he began to show
that love is something I should have feard
I fell in face first
thinking foolishly that words were binding
But I only fell in dirt
where loneliness was my finding
I give up, I forfeit
This isn't what I expected
I wish I had known before hand
what I would have regretted
I put all my faith in love
Only to have my investments devastated
I wish I had known what it was all about
before I signed my heart away

That's why you don't give your heart to cupid... give it to the person you love... Just, make sure you get theirs back in the trade, because living without a heart is tough... Although I can think of some teachers who do quite well with it...
