Peace She'll Not Find

Contributed by jaeann on Tuesday, 9th November 2004 @ 12:08:55 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

She would have been something so very good.
She could have tamed down so well.
Now she's out there all on her own
with a hunger no one can quell.

Nothing was done to unbind her.
No one wants to let her breathe.
Any search is for someone else's vanity
and all she does is ache and seethe.

She's always the second half of the picture
that someone else tears away,
the second choice and the last resort,
they take back tomorrow what's been given today.

She tasted the wine and felt the sting
then needed for nothing else.
Bound in the sunlight of yesterday's storm
she staggers and simply melts.

Her proclivity for the ripeness of submission
edges past the darkness of her mind
she dulls the ache to curb the rage
but peace she'll not find.

This is good too. I noticed most of your poems have this same unfulfilled quality to them that I can identify with. It's almost eerie. I just hope she/we find an answer somewhere.
