Moonlight voices

Contributed by Tanmaya on Tuesday, 9th November 2004 @ 01:46:22 AM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

The strings knew no music,
they simply waited.
The winds couldn’t teach them
the secret of even the simplest melody,
and the rains couldn’t sing with them
their silent, wordless music…
they simply waited.

Till your fingers touched them
and they learned to breath.
Moonlight voices filled the air,
trembling they first whispered,
then soared on sunshine wings.

I remember the first song that
you weaved into their sounds.
It was of the colour of faded roses
buried in old books, it was of the colour
of my eyes when I look into yours.

They flowed through our souls like rivers,
and made our dreams meet like bridges.
All your songs… they came through the shadows,
and played softly on the silent strings,
it is as if, I never knew music before,
and I never knew what was silence.

Beautiful imagery, and I was listening to a wonderful song on the Celtic harp as I read this. It fit completely.

There is a breath of some sweetly-scented wind in these pieces you write, and it always brings a smile into my heart. Keep at it!

I love the third stanza. Perfect lines:

"it is as if, I never knew music before,
and I never knew what was silence."

Take care.
David
