I'M AN AMERICAN SOLDIER AND I'M NOT PUTTING UP WITH YOUR CRAP!

Contributed by dj_the_young_grasshopper on Monday, 8th November 2004 @ 07:01:36 PM in AEST
Topic: AngryPoetry

I went shopping the other day
In the aisle, an old lady stood in my way
I tried to be nice, said "excuse me"
But all she did was curse at me.

At the time all I could think:
I'm a war vet, and I'm not putting up with this *****.

The next thing you know she's head first in her cart
I cursed back, four letter words, called her a retard.
Rolled that cart down the aisleway
Yes, I beat up an old lady, what more can I say?

Walking down the street I got real ticked off
When a guy drove by and flipped me off
So I bent down, grabbed the nearest brick
And put it through his window right quick

I screamed: "I'm going to teach you some respect
Because I'm a war vet, and I'm not having it!"

I dragged the guy out of his car and I proceeded to pummel
His body being kicked through all the rubble
People gawking as they pass by
But a lesson I had to teach that guy

It's real simple, I don't ask for special treatment
I just ask that you don't be a dick!
Because I'm an American Soldier
And I'm not putting up with it.

This poem is based on an incident that happened to me last weekend. I was home on pass and shopping at Kmart with my stepdad, when an old lady was blocking the aisle we were going through. I said twice "excuse me", and she didn't move. She then said in an angry voice: "I'll be done in a minute. Can't you see I'm grabbing my dog food! What do you want me to do, drop them?!"

Before I joined the army, I usually let stuff like that go. But all I could think was: "I didn't spend 10 years overseas in OEF, helping defend HER freedom, only to come back and be cursed at! I'm a war vet and I'm not putting up with this!" I then procedded to tear her a new one in the store. I'm sure I looked like a jerk, being that I'm 23 and cursing out an old lady, but oh well.:)

Thank you for what you have done for our country. You are all heroes in my eyes, until you pull nonsense like that. You treat my aged mother like that and I will see you before a military court or in jail. Just because you are a vet does not give you the right to abuse or assault anyone except the enemy. Trust me, the old lady is not your enemy, or was not at the time.

Oh jeez, Rita. An old lady is being rude and I'm supposed to let it go because she's in her 50's? No. Regardless of someone's age, they have no right to be rude to some stranger in a store. No I didn't hit her, but I did tear her a new one. And she had it coming.
