A satin dress of midnight blue
A black tuxedo and matching shoes
I sat there alone
And your date had flown
So you came up to ask
Shall we dance?
Shall we dance beneath the moonlight?
Shall we get lost in the music?
Will we let our bodies take control
And hope that no one views it?

Or will we let the romance fade?
It is just a simple question that I ask

Well I stood up and I took your hand
The conductor then struck up the band
It seemed we floated across the floor
We danced ourselves out the door
And it's all because you asked

You bowed with such a graceful bend
