CORNWALL SPEAKS

Contributed by romayne on Monday, 8th November 2004 @ 12:05:13 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

My body’s of granite, but my heart’s made of clay
I’m rugged and strong, in a gentle way.
Through me run veins of both copper and tin,
But the years of mining have made them quite thin.
My feet stand on golden sands, washed by the sea.
And the sou`westerly winds can blow wild around me.

My beauty, by many, has long been admired,
Poets, writers and artists, I’ve often inspired.
Many legends and myths of me abound,
And here the supernatural some say they have found.
But all of my secrets I keep buried deep,
For these are the mysteries I wish to keep.

The people, who live, work and play on my face,
They are born of a special race.
Like me, they also are stalwart and strong,
And they love this land to which they belong.
They’re all for one and one for all,
I love all my people, for I am Cornwall.

I've often wanted to visit Cornwall. I've read of it in romance novels, poetry, etc. Someday I will.. I will stand on a cliff, and feel the wind on my face..I love your poem and your user name..

Your discription is good, but I am not familiar with Cornwall.

Your poem flowed nicely.

You have captured here the very essence of Cornwall methinks. It is a write that is very well done indeed. It is as if indeed that Cornwall is speaking. Most admirably is that you have done so encapsulated in elegent and beautiful lines, compact and meanigful.
