White Fella’

They call them the Darkies, the blacks and the Abbo’s,
They call them a hundred unnecessary names,
But no-one remembers the names that they went by,
For thousands of years before the white fella’ came,
No-one remembers the promises made to them,
The trust in their midnight black faces and eyes,
No-one remembers the kindness they showed to us,
Until they knew that the white fella’ lied,
They watched as the white fella’ fenced off their meadowland,
Hearded their cattle and hearded their sheep,
Heard the white fella’ talk of a promised land,
While the white fella’s poison put black fella’ to sleep,
White fella’ sees place, but don’t ask the name of it,
Makes up a name to be called ever more,
Black fella’ know the place, sees natures face in it,
Remembers the name that they called it before,
White fella’ makes stations, and fancy plantations,
For hundreds of years now the lands bought and sold,
But white fella’ don’t own the land it’s in mother natures hand,
She makes the grass grow as sure as wombat makes hole,
White fella’ sees himself, as so superior,
Says don’t waste your time educating the blacks,
Black fella’ knows, there cannot be equality,
White fella’ got too much to learn before that,
White fella’ must learn, that all things are living things,
The grass and the trees, the rocks and the soil,
Mother nature entrusted them into our keeping,
For us to look after, not plunder and spoil,
White fella’ learning now, after only 200 years,
And changing the names back to how they were known,
Perhaps in 200 or maybe 300 more,
They will remember it’s the Aboriginals home.

| interesting write... thou i'll have to admit i doubt it's just prone to the hometown area of the US fer some 200 years... it's an issue in other places too. but this write was a keen reminder. kudos! ;0) |

This is an excellent poem. The subject is very sadly the truth. Maybe one day all people will understand that the real treasures in life have nothing to do with money. Maybe also that different cultures, beliefs and histories can combine to make one big world of spiritual growth.
Well, lets keep trying :) |
